One of the world’s most acclaimed musicians, the “pianist with the golden hands”, will perform a classical music suite with Penang Philharmonic Orchestra.

Yaron Kohlberg is a celebrated pianist and the winner of over 10 prestigious international prizes. He has played in numerous international venues from the Moscow Kremlin to the Carnegie Hall in New York, and has performed as a soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, and more.

He will perform with the Penang Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), an orchestra established to bring talented musicians together and enhance the standard of live classical music in Penang.

Conducting the orchestra is Ciaran McAuley, a Conductor with “contagious passion” (Pforzheimer Zeitung), the former Resident Conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and previous Assistant Conductor to Kiel Opera and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. He has held conducting fellowships at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and at Tanglewood.

Drawing its membership from all communities living in Penang, PPO performs a diverse selection of repertoire drawn from over 350 years of symphonic literature. PPO is an outlet for Penang’s musically gifted to continue to cultivate their devotion to their art.

Yaron Kohlberg, Ciaran McAuley and PPO will perform selected pieces from Schumann and Tchaikovsky.
