Programme Details

As part of George Town Festival’s initiative to spotlight Penang’s rural areas as creative and cultural hubs, Canon collaborates with USM to present a community portraiture and storytelling booth that celebrates connection through photography.

At this interactive booth, festival-goers will have their portraits taken by USM student photographers using Canon cameras, capturing their personality, mood, or moment at the event. Each portrait is printed instantly using Canon printers, and visitors are invited to reflect on what connection means to them by writing a short note to accompany their image.

Participants take home a printed keepsake, while a duplicate is added to the Community Photo Wall — creating a growing visual mosaic of Penang’s people and their stories.

This activation highlights Canon’s role beyond technology — as a platform for youth creativity and meaningful community engagement, made possible through partnership with USM and George Town Festival.
