Involuntary Writing by Amsterdam-based artist Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec is presented at Blank Canvas that brings together site-specific murals and a triptych consisting of a digital scan, a black and white photograph, and a rubber stamp imprint.

The project highlights unintentional ink stains that occur while writing by hand. The artist turns attention to these unintended marks, treating them as visual forms in their own right, which are magnified and reworked within the exhibition space. He foregrounds their idiosyncratic, irregular shapes as visual elements that are neither illustrations, symbolic representations, nor abstractions, but incomprehensible forms that, nevertheless, radiate familiarity. Rather than trying to define or interpret them, the project leans into this ambiguity by adopting a non-interpretative gaze – one that is more akin to “listening to shapes”, allowing their presence to be felt rather than explained.

The Malaysian Real Book II: Past to Present

“The Malaysian Real Book II” brings together three of Malaysia’s finest jazz vocalists—Ida Mariana, Janet Lee, and Yon Lynn—in a vibrant celebration of the Great Malaysian Songbook. Singing traditional standards and contemporary originals from the treasure trove of The Malaysian Real Book – songs in Malay, Chinese and English – their individual and combined styles are innovative and charged by boundless musical joy, all rooted in a distinctly Malaysian jazz sound. A lettering workshop that borrows the idea of chú-chhá (煮炒 / stir-fry): taking everyday local ingredients and dishes, and transforming them into expressive letterforms. Participants will explore lettering by drawing inspiration from local dishes, ingredients, taste, textures, shapes, and colours, firing up their creativity to design letters with a distinct local flavour. ZXC Theatre Troupe’s MATAHARI is a thought-provoking post-apocalyptic fable that explores the fragile bond between humanity and the natural world. As the sun begins to fade and darkness threatens to become permanent, the work confronts themes of environmental neglect, broken promises, and the consequences of human actions. Through powerful storytelling and striking imagery, MATAHARI invites audiences to reflect on a future where survival depends on rediscovering our place within nature.
