“Between Departures” is a mobile live music experience that transforms a city bus into an intimate, moving stage — offering a unique 30-minute unplugged journey through the streets of George Town. Happening over two weekends of George Town Festival (2, 3, 9 & 10 August), the bus departs from Jalan Padang Kota Lama and cruises through Beach Street at 5pm, 6pm, 8pm and 9pm daily.

Featuring acoustic sets by 1Drum and the Sundal Malam Ensemble — a dynamic collective known for their soulful, genre-blending sound — this programme invites audiences to experience live music in motion, reimagined against the ever-changing cityscape.

“Between Departures” is a celebration of Penang’s creative spirit, inviting the public to connect with local artistry in unexpected places while transforming everyday transit into a poetic, musical journey.
