Leaving Traces is a group exhibition exploring the visual art form of drawing. Drawing is a speculative and exploratory process, with many contemporary artists testing the parameters of what a drawing can be. Typical drawing instruments such as charcoal, pencil and ink have now been supplemented with non-assuming materials such as wire, wood and steel. Artists have also been experimenting with methods of presentation, such as installation and video works.

This exhibition captures a moment in contemporary drawing practices in Malaysia, thus inviting viewers to viscerally engage with drawing through an expanded field that opens up new possibilities. Several works are site-specific and constructed on-site over time. All works are experimental and explorative, holding an authenticity and sensitivity to the core of drawing practice.
