The Hikayat Series & Workshop is an initiative by Kakiseni to spark interest and curiosity in Malaysian traditional performing arts through illustrated storybooks, live performances, and hands-on activities, especially for young children.

In this workshop, participants will learn the elements of Bangsawan’s stage, specifically of a Malay Palace and take a piece of it home. This workshop includes a ‘design and create’ props and set build like the lembing (spear), kota bam (side wing of stage) and kipas kerawang (filigree fan). All materials are provided, and each participant will receive a copy of Rahman’s Big Break.
