The Festival is accepting proposals now through 20 February 2022
George Town – Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin announces an open call for proposals for the state’s annual largest commemoration of the creative sector – George Town Festival.
Yeoh in a statement today, invited creative talents who are passionate about transforming their ideas into high‐quality artistic events to submit their proposals, as the Festival continues to pursue its mission in building “A Festival for Everyone”.
“Interested emerging, mid-career, and established artists, curators, collectives, collaborators, and creative individuals are welcomed to participate in GTF, which now stands as one of Asia’s leading and most promising arts events,” he added.
He said with restriction measures been gradually loosened, the 2022’s edition of the Festival is expected to return to its pre-pandemic glory and yield more economic opportunities for the state and creative practitioners.
While commenting about the Festival’s direction, Yeoh said its past programmes had advocated for creativity and originality by encouraging people to be creative and daring to imagine.
“As such, GTF 2022 will take a similar approach, which is to be a festival that nurtures creative talents and empower them to shine not only locally, but also internationally.
“The Open Call is to uncover more talents, which will also accelerate our footsteps and push us towards the direction of making Penang reign as the creative hub of Southeast Asia,” he added.
George Town Festival 2022’s Open Call for Proposals is now open until 20 February 2022.
