GEORGE Town Festival 2022 is excited to announce that it is now accepting proposals from creative talents who are passionate about transforming their ideas into high‐quality artistic events.

Following an unprecedented time in which COVID-19 presented enormous challenges for the festival scene, George Town Festival 2021 is committed to bring Penang’s art scene back to life through two campaigns: “Nine Days Eight Exhibitions” and “Nine Days Eight Shows”, this November and December.

“Read Taiwan” pop-up bookstore, collaboratively presented by George Town Festival, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and Penang City Eye, will be reopening its doors at The Whiteaways Arcade from 29 October 2021 (Friday) to 31 October 2021 (Sunday).

Following the successful results of the ongoing “Arts to Your Doorstep” campaign, George Town Festival is extending the duration of the collaborative campaign until the end of December 2021.

AFTER calling for entries through an open call, George Town Festival announces that the inaugural edition of the “G-Short” Short Film Festival has received 697 submissions from 37 countries worldwide, including United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Spain, France, Italy, Philippines, Netherlands, Australia, China, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, and more.

Many visual artists look forward to art residencies. These programmes allow artists to live and work outside of their usual environments to explore new locations and different cultures.

许多艺术工作者相当期待艺术驻留计划，因为透过这类型的项目，他们将有机会跳脱所熟悉的日常，来到新的工作地点去探索不同的环境与文化。

随着政府宣布马来西亚进入全面封锁，暂停国内一切社交及经济活动后，乔治市艺术节主办单位今日发出通知，原定于2021年7月10日至18日举行的艺术节线上活动将如期照跑，惟实体节目则暂时展延，视情况再定。

George Town Festival announces that the Festival is set to continue as scheduled with its online programmes from 10 to 18 July 2021. However, following the government’s announcement about a total nationwide lockdown for all social and economic sectors, the Festival’s physical events are tentatively postponed until further notice.
