“Gleefully gossipy… genuine theater” - The New York Times
Carlos Celdran is a Filipino-born, New York trained visual artist, actor, and activist. For one night only, Celdran will perform his critically acclaimed Off-Broadway show “Livin' La Vida Imelda,” at the Georgetown Festival as a late-night cabaret show.
“Livin’ La Vida Imelda" is a hysterically gossipy disco-infused, a one-man performance piece about Mr. Celdran’s personal experiences under the Marcos dictatorship in mid-1970s Manila. Through the magic of multimedia, he will slip you into the shoes of flamboyant former First Lady Imelda Marcos and guide you through the skeletons hanging inside Imelda’s closet of personal issues. Learning about Filipino history was never this much fun nor as relevant.
As we speak, the Philippines is once again rekindling their romance with dictatorship and Martial Law. So come and watch “Livin’ La Vida Imelda”, laugh, cry, and learn a thing or two about why Filipinos have chosen to repeat history once again.
